After toying with our hearts with 2016’s Oscar winning (to a point) La La Land, director Damien Chazelle has reteamed with Ryan Gosling to bring the life of Neil Armstrong to the screen with First Man. Just like a rocket, the first trailer has launched.
Gosling will be stepping into the moon boots of the great man, while The Crown’s Claire Foy is starring opposite as Armstrong’s wife, Janet. Chazelle’s previous films have shown us characters who are ready to sacrifice relationships for their professional lives to thrive. I look forward seeing whether Neil and Janet’s relationship will be able to survive this rocket shaped obstacle.
Here is the official synopsis:
On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
We can expect First Man to land in cinemas on 12th October 2018.
